Limitations and alternatives

Despite our best efforts to ensure accessibility of Navigate School Choice, there may be some limitations. Below is a description of known limitations, and potential solutions. Please contact us if you observe an issue not listed below.

Known limitations for Navigate School Choice:

  1. Still using some map images across the site: On pages where we provide roundups of all 50 states, we use maps as a quick visual reference but also provide a breakdown of each state below the map. We are trying to find a solution that provides the same type of quick breakdown for users who use screen readers. We provide the information in text below so users can still get a full analysis of each page.
  2. We are using PDFs in our state pages: We provide snapshot PDFs for users to have a full breakdown of their state. All the information provided in the PDFs is accessible within the State Roadmap pages.
  3. There are links to PDFs and other non-accessible documents throughout the content: We provide full access to information and resources that can help parents. Some of these third-party resources are in PDFs and other non-accessible documents. When we can, we work with partners to present the information in an accessible way.

Assessment approach

National School Choice Awareness Foundation assessed the accessibility of Navigate School Choice by the following approaches:
